When & How to do a Home Boiler Cleaning in Toronto
Regular Boiler Cleaning can help Keep your entire Heating System Efficient.
Regular boiler cleaning and maintenance will keep your unit in good working order for years to come. When you notice that your home does not heat up as it should, that means that your boiler is in need of repair.
After the boiler has heated the water, it is circulated through the piping and delivered to your radiators. Radiation and convection warms the indoor air. It is important to allow the air free flow around each of the radiators. However, air in piping systems and faulty valves can impede the efficiency of the system and cause radiators to stop working correctly.
A boiler in Toronto that does not work as it should simply wastes heat. Many Toronto homeowners will keep turning up the thermostat, which adds additional costs to the heating bill.

When is best time of the year to schedule a boiler cleaning and maintenance call with Hoerner Heating and Plumbing. Why? Because the weather is great, which means it’s not a big deal for the heating to be switched off for a few hours during maintenance. You certainly don’t want to wait for errors to be ignored, just to show up during the freeze!
While performing your boiler inspection, be sure to also request a boiler cleaning. The average home boiler should be cleaned every year.
Many Toronto homes still have hydronic heat boilers, which often require repairs. However, we have been receiving a continuous stream of calls from homeowners requiring upgrades. Here at Hoerner Heating and Plumbing, we promote the use of high efficiency condensing boilers for home use.
If you feel the need to upgrade to a high-efficiency condensing boiler to save on your energy costs, summer is the best time to have that done as the heat will have to be switched off for a few days.
We do Boiler Maintenance on Hoerner Choice Boilers – Heating Only and Combination Boilers Including:

When is the best time to schedule a Boiler Cleaning?
We recommend that homeowners call for boiler cleaning during spring, when the temperature is below 15 degrees Celsius. Ideally, boiler cleaning should be done during May or June. When the temperature is below 15 degrees Celsius, we can do an accurate combustion analysis.
Why? Hoerner Heating & Plumbing will do a combustion analysis, if the outdoor temperature is hot, the boiler combustion analysis may not test properly. But waiting too long is not good either – you don’t want to hit the winter rush without your heating system in good working order.
We recommend Home Boiler Cleanings, or at least an inspection once a year before the heating season commences. Ideally, your boiler should be cleaned once a year.
Hoerner Guide to Home Boiler Cleaning and Inspection
Many Toronto homes are heated by radiators that provide circulating hot water – a boiler cleaning schedule can make it run more efficient. In order to keep the unit functioning as it should, it is important to maintain it regularly. If your radiator doesn’t work as it should, you will find that it doesn’t heat up your home as much as it used to, and some rooms may be cooler than others. Radiators that don’t work as they should will waste heat by circulating the hot water back to the boiler without delivering heat to the home. Instead of turning the thermostat up higher than necessary, and adding unnecessary costs to your heating bill, consider maintenance instead.
How Radiators Work
Once heated by the boiler, water is circulated through the piping system to the radiators of your home. The indoor air is warmed through convection and radiation. In order for the radiator to work efficiently, air must be allowed to flow freely around and under each radiator. Over time, radiators may stop working because of faulty valves or air in piping systems. This will impede the efficiency of your radiator and can even stop the central heating system from working at all. Getting on a boiler cleaning schedule will create better efficiency with the operation of the entire system..
